The wild beauty of this area was an inspiration to authors and artists alike and should be experienced to be fully appreciated. There's such contrast to the scenery from the lowlands and dales to the peaks.
Where you will be staying
Hilton Hotel, Sheffield
Enjoy the quayside location, only minutes walk from the city centre. Facilities include The Quays restaurant, swimming pool, sauna and gym. All bedrooms are en suite and have a TV, telephone, hairdryer and refreshment tray.
What you will be doing
Day 1 A morning departure, stopping for lunch and sightseeing in the delightful Lincolnshire town of Stamford, used in the film ‘Pride and Prejudice' as Meryton the home of the Bennett family, en-route to our resort hotel.
Days 2 - 4 At leisure with three included excursions.
Excursion to Chatsworth House. This morning we travel to the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, Chatsworth House. Set on the banks of The River Derwent, Chatsworth was originally built in 1555 and set in 100 acres of magnificent gardens (admission included). This afternoon we travel to Haddon Hall (admission included).
The "Peak District" trail takes us to four of the most picturesque and traditional Peak District small towns of Bakewell, the spa town of Buxton, the highest town in England renowned for its mineral waters, Castleton and Hathersage.
An excursion to the southern "Dales". Our first stop is Matlock Bath before continuing to Crich Tramway Museum.
LAST DAY We depart for home, but not before making a stop at Belvoir Castle, home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland (admission included) and arrive home during the evening.
